Dr. Toya graduated from Kumamoto University Japan and started his career as an ENT at the same university from 2005. Besides clinical work as a vocal surgeon, he studied neurolaryngology and received a Ph.D degree at Kumamoto University in 2012. After that he moved to University of Wisconsin-Madison USA for contributing to the projects of vocal folds regeneration at Dr. Welham's lab. From 2014, he restarted his career as a vocal surgeon at Kumamoto University until 2017. During this period, he contributed to the clinical trials of type II thyroplasty for adductor spasmodic dysphonia. In 2017, he moved to Kyoto ENT Surgicenter Japan and experienced more than 600 cases of thyroplasty surgery for voice disorder patients. In 2024, he established 'The Metropolitan ENT Surgiclinic Tokyo' to accept the voice disorder patients worldwide.
